It’ seems as good quality as my other nylon webbing harnesses but I’m not getting how it helps

It’ seems as good quality as my other nylon webbing harnesses but I’m not getting how it helps with pulling. Using the front clip for the leash is not working for my short stocky dog. I got size XS based on the measurement guide but might be too big. I already have it tighter on him than other harnesses. The leash clip bangs against his leg with every step.

My 13-year-old rat terrier likes his Wonder Walker No-Pull Harness
